Johnson Electric Introduces New Geared and Peristaltic Pumps

Using Johnson Motor’s 300, 600 and 700 series of DC motors, Johnson Electric introduced new series of geared and peristaltic pumps. The pumps are compact, light and with adjustable speed and reverse flow capabilities. All pumps are self-priming designed to meet the hygienic criteria of handling pure fluids. They also have an option to add thermal load protection. Typical applications are in beverage dispensing or drug delivery. The pumps have a maximum flow rate of up to 3000 ml/min.

New Brush Bar Motors for Vacuum Cleaners

Johnson Electric is the market share leader in brush bar motors. Unlike most of its competitors who rely on universal motors to do the job, Johnson Electric utilizes HVDC (high voltage DC) motors. The advantage of this technology over universal is that it is slimmer and lighter. An equivalent sized HVDC can produce a higher torque and therefore higher power and efficiency than a universal motor.


However, the most significant advantage of using HVDC in a brush bar application is when you're sliding the vacuum cleaner back and forth and moreso, if you're vacuuming between various surfaces, i.e. moving from carpet to wood to tiles. This varies the torque requirement on the motor. With a universal motor, a slight change in torque means a drastic change in speed that produces a high-pitched sound. This also causes much strain on the motor and makes it wear off more easily. However, with a HVDC motor, because the speed vs torque performance is linear and has a small slope, a change in torque requirement produces a relatively smaller change in speed.
